Rapid Chess Championships 2021 – Girls Events
The above event
conducted by the Asian chess Federation was organized by the Philippines Chess
Federation on 23rd, 24th and 25th of July 2021
at the Tornelo Platform. In the 9 round Swiss system
event, the Games were played on rapid Chess time control of 15 minutes with
additional 10seconds for each move played.
Sri Lanka Schools Chess
Federation was brave to field a huge team of 96 players dividing the maximum 8
players allowed to enter for an age group. The event was held in under 7, 9,
11, 13, 15 and 17 categories Girls. The Open events are scheduled to be played
in next week.
Sanidula
Dahamdi of Musaeus College
got the best result for Sri Lanka from the under 15 Girls category scoring 6 ½
points out of possible 9 games which brought her tied with 3rd but
placed 7th on the poor tie breaking points she had. Anakshi Senulya Weeraratne of Sujatha Vidyalaya Matara also shined scoring 6 points out of 9 games in the
under 9 Girls category. Esandi Newansa
of Dharmasoka College also scored a well-earned 6
points out of 9 games in the under 13 Girls Category.
